Henan Sanmenxia in Autumn: A Living Canvas Where Swans Paint the Sky
When late autumn winds sweep across the Central Plains, Sanmenxia in Henan quietly unfolds a vibrant ecological scroll. Here, within the embrace of the Yellow River, the Swan Lake Resort writes an enduring poem of harmony between humans and nature.
Every autumn and winter, nearly ten thousand swans arrive as scheduled, gliding through the morning mist of Qinglong Lake and dancing in the evening glow of Canglong Lake. As of this fall, 596 of these graceful creatures have made their home here—220 gracing the waters of Qinglong Lake, 370 painting paired reflections along the shores of Canglong Lake, and 6 strolling leisurely in the Yellow River Park, joined by black-feathered, red-beaked black swans that together sketch a poetic scene of "swans soaring alongside the fading light."
Behind this vibrant vitality lies Sanmenxia's persistent dedication to ecological preservation. Through systematic efforts including water purification, vegetation restoration, and wetland conservation, the former Yellow River floodplain has transformed into a beloved home for swans. The crystal-clear waters and abundant aquatic plants form a complete ecological chain, providing these graceful birds with a safe and abundant habitat.
At the Swan Lake Resort, ecological protection and humanistic care achieve perfect integration. Citizens quietly observe swans playing in the water along the lakeshore, photographers capture the ripples left by flapping wings, and children exclaim with delight before bird-watching platforms. This is not only a natural reserve for swans but also a recreational space that soothes the urban soul—where people listen to the calls of swans, feel the rhythm of life, and let the city's noise dissolve into nature's pulse.
Sanmenxia demonstrates through practice that an eco-friendly living environment is not a distant ideal but an accessible daily reality. When the reflections of swans and the city's skyline shimmer together on the lake's surface, the city paints with the most vivid strokes a pristine ecological picture of modern urban life coexisting harmoniously with nature.
