The Heartland's New Beat: How Transportation Hubs in Henan Connect the World
Situated in the central heartland and serving as a vital hub connecting ten provinces, Henan's transportation DNA has long been integrated into its developmental bloodstream. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, transportation hubs in Henan are writing the era's answer sheet on inland openness with renewed dynamism.
Its high-speed rail network crisscrosses the land. With 6,810 kilometers of railway in operation, including 2,263 kilometers of high-speed rail arteries, traveling to and from Henan has become a matter of daily convenience. The record of 1.048 million daily passenger trips in 2025 attests to the accelerated convergence of people, goods, and capital flows, transforming geographical advantages into tangible developmental momentum. The regular operation of the China-Europe Railway Express (Zhengzhou), reaching Hamburg in just 18 days, 50% faster than sea freight, along with its "multi-stop, multi-route" network covering Eurasia, and the International Highway Assembly Center enabling direct delivery of "Henan-made" products to Central Asia, are all solidifying the robust capabilities of its railway hub.
In the skies above, the "Air Silk Road" is soaring to new heights. The dual-hub synergy between Zhengzhou-Luxembourg and Zhengzhou-Kuala Lumpur, over ten international passenger routes connecting the globe, and an aviation port handling "tens of thousands of flights" all signify a leap in air cargo capacity. 471,800 tons of international cargo and mail throughput and 64 all-cargo flight routes allow European goods to reach Chinese shelves within a day and send Central China's manufactures to the world stage.
Innovation is adding new wings to its growth. Cross-border e-commerce import and export value grew by nearly 40% year-on-year, supported by 11 dedicated cross-border e-commerce air cargo routes weaving a denser global network. New models like "TIR + Cross-border E-commerce" are building a multidimensional "Air-Land-Net" passage, making "Buying Globally, Selling Globally" the new normal for Henan.
Evolving from the "Heart of China's Railways" to an "International Transportation Hub", transportation hubs in Henan are now linking domestic and international markets with an open posture. In the future, this rising transportation hub will also become fertile ground for industrial agglomeration and a forefront for open cooperation, creating even more legends of development.
