Siberian swans make Sanmenxia their winter haven
I met a group of "old friends" in Sanmenxia — the white swans that fly all the way here from Siberia every autumn and winter.
They arrive in flocks after traveling thousands of miles, treating this place as their warm "winter stopover". In the morning mist, some quietly forage while others glide across the water, adding a touch of grace and poetry to Sanmenxia's winter scenery.
White swans have high standards for where they choose to live, so the fact that they choose to rest and even breed here is the best proof of Sanmenxia's improving ecological environment.
Around this time every year, "white swan watching" becomes a must-do weekend activity for the locals. Along the riverbank, people lift their phones and cameras to capture the swans' elegant movements — creating a beautiful picture of harmony between people and nature. (Video: Yang Jiaxin)
