The roughly thousand-character text on coarse paper has illuminated the path of spiritual growth for 80 million CPC members.

On Hailu Street in Chengguan Town, Mianchi County, Henan Province, there stands a traditional three-entry courtyard shaped like the Chinese character "目"(mu). Beneath the plaque reading "Liu Shaoqi's Former Residence" on the lintel, asign marking the "Site of the Eighth Route Army's Military Base at Mianchi" is embedded in the blue brick wall, like a revolutionary imprint etched into history. Inside the tile-roofed house at the back of the courtyard, a wooden table, an old chair, and a kerosene lamp stand silently, recalling the sleepless nights of the harsh winter in 1938. It was here that Liu Shaoqi, then Secretary of the Party's Central Plains Bureau, sat at his desk and fervently wrote on rough paper an epoch-making work on Party building: the draft of How to be a Good Communist.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. As we visit these scattered historical sites and feel the marks of time on the earthen walls, the spiritual torch forged during those arduous war-torn years still seems to burn with the same intensity. Liu Shaoqi's Former Residence stands not only as a witness to history, but also as a cradle for the spiritual development of Communists, lighting a beacon of faith at the crucial juncture innational survival.
