July 15 marks the 11th World Youth Skills Day (WYSD). On that day, "Skills Illuminate the Future and Henan Embrace a Wonderful Tomorrow" - the 2025 WYSD theme publicity activity was launched in Zhengzhou city, central China's Henan province. More than 30 frontline reporters from 20 media outlets, including central media stationed in Henan, major provincial news media, and key municipal news media in Zhengzhou and Luoyang, attended the launching ceremony.

The purpose of this activity is to organically combine the concept of WYSD with the platform of the National Skills Competition, vividly showcase the exquisite skills and professional demeanor of Henan's young skilled talents, vigorously promote the contemporary fashion of "glory in labor, value in skills, and greatness in creation", encourage more workers, especially young people, to take the path of skill-based employment, skill-based success and skill-based contribution to the country, and create a strong atmosphere of paying attention to skills, learning skills and devoting oneself to skills.

At the launching ceremony, the representatives of outstanding skilled talents shared their experiences of achieving success through skills, including Tao Liuhai, a national model worker, winner of the China Great Skill Award, chief expert and technician of State Grid Corporation of China(SGCC), and from the Extra High Voltage(EHV) Company of State Grid Henan Electric Power Corporation, and Lu Jingyi, a student from Henan Chemical Technician College and gold medalist in the Chemical Laboratory Technology project at the 47th World Skills Competition.

It is an important support for writing a new chapter in advancing Chinese modernization in the Central Plains to cultivate a large-scale, well-structured and high-quality team of skilled talents. In 66 days, the 3rd National Skills Competition will be grandly held in Henan. At that time, contestants from 35 delegations across the country will gather in Zhengzhou to show their unique skills, compete with each other, present a peak duel and demonstrate the charm of skills. The holding of this theme publicity activity will also pool strength and build consensus for the 3rd National Skills Competition.

In recent years, centering on constructing the goal of "Skilled Henan", Henan has continuously deepened the reform of the institutional mechanism for the development of skilled talents and promoted the construction of skilled talent teams in an all-round and integrated manner, guided by serving industrial transformation and upgrading and high-quality development. At present, the number of skilled talents in Henan has reached 19.67 million, including 6.85 million highly skilled talents, providing a solid human resource support for the economic and social development of Henan.

In the next three days, a press corps composed of central media stationed in Henan and key provincial media reporters will conduct centralized interviews in Zhengzhou and Luoyang. They will visit advanced manufacturing enterprises, provincial-level human resource brand training demonstration bases and other gathering places of skilled talents, explore the driving force of skilled talents for high-quality development and uncover the human resource advantages supporting the growth of new quality productivity.
