China's first practical PQC chip released in Henan

A cybersecurity firm based in Zhengzhou has unveiled a quantum-resistant cryptographic chip, PQC01, following a successful tape-out at SMIC. The launch marks a significant step forward for Henan in developing homegrown technologies in the field of quantum security. As Chinas first practical, multi-scenario, self-adaptive chip designed to withstand quantum threats, PQC01 offers an independent and locally developed solution to the challenges posed by the advent of quantum computing.

记者5月12日获悉,郑州信大壹密科技有限公司(以下简称“壹密科技”)设计研发的抗量子密码芯片“密芯PQC01”日前在中芯国际成功流片并正式发布,标志着河南在量子安全领域技术与产业培育上有了重大突破。作为国内首款实用化多场景自适应抗量子密码芯片产品,该芯片的推出为应对量子计算时代的安全挑战提供了自主可控的“河南方案”。

 

Quantum computing is advancing rapidly, posing a growing threat to traditional encryption algorithms. Critical sectors such as financial transactions, defence communications, and government data are increasingly vulnerable to quantum attacks. By combining advanced mathematics with chip-level design, post-quantum cryptography is designed to withstand the power of quantum computers. Often described as a "digital Great Wall", it plays a strategic role in safeguarding cybersecurity and holds significant commercial potential across the digital economy.

当前,量子计算技术发展迅猛,传统加密算法面临被破解的风险,金融交易、国防通信、政务数据等关键领域的信息安全有被量子算力击穿的威胁。抗量子密码技术通过数学理论与芯片设计的深度融合,能够抵御量子计算机的攻击,是捍卫网络空间安全的“数字长城”,对数字安全具有重要的战略意义,也具有广阔的产业价值。

 

Over the years, this cybersecurity firm has made steady progress in the field of post-quantum cryptography, overcoming a series of technical challenges including algorithm reconfigurability, heterogeneous integration, and low-power design. The newly released PQC01 chip leads the domestic field in several key areas - from reconfigurable algorithm support and security management to resistance against attacks, energy efficiency, and manufacturing process. It is designed to support a wide range of use cases, including post-quantum cryptographic applications, legacy encryption, and hybrid transitional scenarios. With built-in flexibility for future cryptographic algorithm upgrades, the chip offers a robust and sustainable solution for quantum-safe migration and multi-scenario deployment in emerging fields.
