　　今日大雪丨雪纷飞，仲冬始

With the temperature plummeting, we are diving into the wonders of Major Snow.

随着气温逐渐下降，大雪节气如期而至。

The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides a year into 24 solar terms. Major Snow, the 3rd solar term in the winter and the 21st solar term of a year, begins on December 7 this year and ends on December 21. During Major Snow, snow becomes heavy and begins to accumulate on the ground. The temperature drops significantly.

中国传统立法把一年分为二十四节气。大雪，冬天的第三个节气、一年的第二十一个节气，始于12月7日，止于12月21日。在此期间，雪一场场大了起来，地面上也会出现积雪，气温下降幅度较大。

Since ancient China, many Chinese poets expressed preference for snow, creating a large number of famous poems to express their affections by depicting snow. Today, let's appreciate a snow scenery in a poem written by Liu Zongyuan, a Tang Dynasty poet.

自古以来，中国诗人就对雪情有独钟。他们创作了大量的诗词佳作，借雪抒情。今天，让我们一起来欣赏唐代诗人柳宗元用笔勾勒出的雪景图。

From hill to hill no bird in flight; From path to path no man in sight.

千山鸟飞绝，万径人踪灭。

A lonely fisherman afloat; Is fishing snow in lonely boat.

孤舟蓑笠翁，独钓寒江雪。

The poet conveyed secluded and chilly atmosphere to readers by 20 Chinese characters: An old fisherman in a small boat fished in the middle of the river covered with heavy snow.

诗人用了20个字，描绘了一幅幽静寒冷的画面：在下着大雪的江面上，一叶小舟，一个老渔翁，独自在寒冷的江心垂钓。
