2023 "China Roots Seeking Tour" Summer Camp (Henan) for Overseas Chinese Teenagers opens

2023海外华裔青少年“中国寻根之旅”夏令营·河南营开营

On July 5, the opening ceremony of the 2023 Roots Seeking Tour in China" Summer Camp (Henan) for Overseas Chinese Teenagers was held in Zhengzhou City, Central China's Henan province. The event was hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, organized by the Henan Provincial Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the Henan Provincial International Culture Communication Association for Overseas Chinese, and co-organized by Henan University, Henan University of Chinese Medicine, etc.

7月5日，2023海外华裔青少年“中国寻根之旅”夏令营·河南营在河南大学郑州校区举行开营仪式。该活动由中国侨联主办，河南省侨联和河南省华侨国际文化艺术交流协会承办，河南大学、河南中医药大学等协办。

The event is themed "Chinese, Culture, and Root Hunting." One hundred fifty-five overseas Chinese teenagers will visit Henan in July and August to go to four camps, including "Meet Henan · Impression Camp," "Meet Kung Fu · Zhengzhou Camp," "Meet Ancient Capitals · Luoyang Camp," and "Meet Yellow River · Culture Camp." In the "Impression Camp," a total of 45 overseas Chinese teenagers will have a 10-day visit in which they will see the Henan Museum, Xinzheng City (the hometown of Emperor Huangdi) and the Historic Monuments of Dengfeng (the "Center of Heaven and Earth") and other places, to appreciate the richness of the Chinese civilization.

本次活动以“汉语、文化、寻根”为主题，155名海外华裔青少年将在7月、8月间相聚“老家河南”，分别参加遇见河南·印象营、遇见功夫·郑州营、遇见古都·洛阳营、遇见黄河·文化营等4期“遇见”系列实体营。首期遇见河南·印象营邀请来自澳洲河南同乡会、美国美西河南商会、比利时华协中文学校、西班牙马德里中西文双语学校等45名海外华裔青少年，走进河南博物院、新郑黄帝故里、“天地之中”建筑群等地，共同开启为期10天的“寻根之旅”，感受博大精深的中华文明和源远流长的黄河文化，在身临其境的文化体验中丰富收获、见证成长。

At the ceremony, the guests and the first campers watched the video about Henan, sang the camp song - "Song of the Yellow River," attended the flag ceremony, enjoyed the zither performance "Wanjiang" and "Song Dynasty Culture Exhibition, "and listened to the lecture themed with "Henan, where China begins" by Professor Zhang Zhaopeng from Henan University.

开营仪式上，与会嘉宾与首期营员们共同观看河南省情宣传片，唱响夏令营的营歌——《黄河之歌》MV，见证庄严的授旗仪式，欣赏古筝演奏《万疆》和《宋代文化联展:香茶花乐》，并聆听河南大学教授张召鹏关于“行走河南·读懂中国”的主题分享，感受中华文化的独特魅力。

A camper from America said that his journey to seek roots naturally began in Henan. He added that Henan is an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and the source of Chinese people worldwide. The campers will introduce what they have seen, heard, and learned in Henan to other countries so that the world can better understand the richness of Chinese culture.

“我的寻根之旅理所当然要从河南开始。”美国营员美禧卓安说，河南是华夏文明的重要发祥地，是世界华人的宗祖之根。一定把在河南看到的、听到的、学到的带回去，让优秀璀璨的中华文化之花开遍世界。

It is the first time the "Roots Seeking Tour in China" summer camp has been held offline after Covid-19. The activity is an important platform to cement friendships between Chinese and foreign teenagers, promote cultural exchanges, and gather overseas youth to introduce traditional Chinese culture to the rest of the world.

今年是“中国寻根之旅”在疫情后首次恢复线下办营。自1999年开始，“中国寻根之旅”系列活动至今已举办20多届，旨在帮助世界各地广大华裔青少年学习和传承中华文化，增强其对中国国情的认知和对中华文化、中华民族的感情认同，是增进中外青少年友谊、促进文化交流，凝聚海外青少年力量向世界传播中华传统文化的重要平台。
