  Today's idiom:中流砥柱(zhōng liú dǐ zhù)

The idiom is from Yanzi's Spring and Autumn Annals. When Dayu was controlling the flood, he saw that the Dizhu Mountain affected the flow of the Yellow River, so he widened and dredged the riverway on both sides. The Dizhu Mountain always towers, facing the surging torrent from Sanmenxia (in Henan province). Chinese people use it to describe the might and the person playing a central role in the dangerous and turbulent environment.
